Robert Hayden is an interesting choice. I would have thought him nearly forgotten. Nice to see him brought up again and recognized, even so long after his death. He wrote a lot about his childhood here in Detroit too, although from his writings it clearly was not the happiest of upbringings.
When I was a student at U-M a visiting Professor in the Black Studies department taught a class entirely on the works of Robert Hayden.
