    Default Remembering Levon Helm

Saw him at a street fair, still in great voice, a few years back. He and Robbie mended their fences when he got cancer. It appears he is getting shorted due to the proximity of Dick Clark's passing. His voice could just grab hold of your soul

Thanks for posting that video, good stuff. I wanted to go to the Ann Arbor show last month, now I'm really kicking myself for missing it.

I was at the Ann Arbor show. He looked frail and he didn't sing much that night, but he still played the best, funkiest drums in rock and roll history.

I also saw the band at Pine Knob on the Last Waltz tour [[the day after the bicentennial, if memory serves), and in Toronto last year for one of his Rambles on the Road. Lucinda Williams was the opening act.

The best show was at a Midnight Ramble at his home studio/barn in 2006. The best night of music I've ever experienced. There was nothing else like it anywhere else, and I am so glad I got to see him there.

BTW, Levon hated, Hated, HATED The Last Waltz. He disavowed any involvement with it.
