As far as the SW/Downtown thing... it's not that big of a deal. Be happy it's in Detroit, and not Troy.
    True that!

Okay, it's official. I regret that I'm now working Saturdays. Really wish I could go to this event. If for nothing else, it's a unique opportunity to watch the Wings practice. And a good cause to boot!

I had always wondered why the Red Wings can't hold one of their practices at The Rink at Campus Martius. Is the rink big enough?

My guess is that it's just not large enough. The official size of a hockey rink is 200'x85'. I searched and found this thread that says the Campus Martius rink is 120'x64'. Another factor may be space for an audience?

Wait until they have the winter classic in Ann Arbor and bill it as metro detroit.... You guys are going to have a field day with that one!

Anyways, if we are commited to the idea of downtown being the cbd and midtown being well, midtown, can we PLEASE start calling New Center "Uptown?". After all, it isnt really new anymore and hardly a center....but its definitly up!
