There's a nice posting of the sales brochure for Rose Terrace on today's [[7-31-14) Half Pudding Half Sauce blog. The house was offered for sale at $1,250,000.

"Rose Terrace" wouldn't be a bad drag name.

There was a special, I believe with Mort Crim, that went though Rose Terrace before it was demolished. I recall, in particular, the organ that was hidden in the walls. I believe this was in 1976.

Hello! Is anyone interessted in this catalogue. I was at the auction in 1971. I noted inside the price the items went for. Found this recently in my bookshelf where it just collects dust! Maybe someone is interessted.?Name: Scannen0025.jpg

I remember Rose Terrace fondly. Such a shame that it had to be destroyed. But it was simply far too large of an estate to maintain in today's lifestyle. You simply cannot find the help to staff a home like that these days even if you wanted to bear the expense.

I believe it was Mort Crim who led a television tour of Rose Terrace before her demolition in 1976. It would be great if this was still available. I recall the massive pipe organ; the pipes were hidden behind the tapestries, if I remember correctly.

It was not Mort Crim that narrated the tour, it was Ted Russel from WWJ TV- Channel 2 I believe. Here is the complete video in 3 parts:
