Oh, that picture just made me tear up a bit. My cousins used to rent those boats and take us younger kids out fishing and fooling around on the canals back then. I also had a great uncle who lived on Klenk, going back to prohibition times, and I think that may be his house in the background.

Default I worked there about that same year 1966

The photo seems to be correct for the year as I remember working for Tommy when I was 13 on the gas dock loading boat rentals and cleaning them after they were used. If anyone has any more pictures please post them !

    Thank you

Ha....25 years ago, I grew up 1/2 a block away on Chalmers and the park was starting to become neglected back then. It was truly a paradise when I was a kid running around there in the late 60s thru the late 70s.

Who is in.....upon bankruptcy, we are going to buy the park to develop, dredge for deep/wide canals, build nice single family waterfront homes, keep a section in the middle for a nice park for all to enjoy with a gated entrance right after the bridge with private security [[retired PO's)....who is in?

In the Belle Harbor development scheme, I wanted to hate those two half towers, but I actually like them. They let a lot of light in around them for the folks living nearby, and just imagine the views!

That is such an amazing area. I envy you guys that grew up there.

I was in town for a wedding this past weekend and went by my old stomping grounds, I thought this would make an interesting contrast of what 25 years of neglect produces...kinda brings a tear to my eye, life after people. Its hard to believe that some one doesn'tName: Tommys Boat slips.jpg
