Yet they him out and elect this guy instead, who doesn't even live in Hamtramck.

Hmm. Wonder why that is. Same old politics in this area - he's the right ethnicity and the right religion, and, at least outwardly straight. Doesn't matter that he's a piece of shit.

Hamtramck isn't the rosy place where everybody shits rainbows that Lowell makes it out to be. Very likable place, to be sure, but especially the politics are hideous. The Bangladeshi councilpeople boycott the local newspaper, the Review, because it is, quote, "un-Islamic"
Whatever the fuck that means.

The Council is currently half Bangladeshi Muslim and half European-descent Christian. One can paint it as diversity, but it seems more like a house divided.

Actually, they joined forces with the Catholic poles and voted him out. A temporary coalition.

My study of the 2010 Census data, the 2005-2009 ACS and immigration stats yield the following slightly rounded population figures and percentages for Hamtramck: Bangladeshi-4700 or 21% [[2900 Foreign Born), African Americans- 4300 or 19%, Arabic [[Mainly Yemeni)- 4000 or 18% [[2600 F.B.), Polish-3800 [[1000 F.B.) or 17%, Bosnian-2200 [[1200 F.B.) or 10%. There are about 300 "Hispanics" mostly Mexicans. Note in using the race data both Arabs and the majority of "Hispanics" are enumerated as "white". The "Hispanic" origin question is separate from the Race and Ancestry questions. The data for "Bosnian" is the shakiest as the Census Bureau will not accept "Bosnian" as an ancestry because it is seen as a surrogate for a religious identification [[Muslim) which the the Census is forbidden to collect. However, statistics for the number of those born in Bosnia - Hercegovina is available. Those immigration figures are the base for extrapolating the Bosnian population of Hamtramck.

Any one have any idea what percent of hamtrmack population is of albanian descent. Also the Mosk on Dwyer and miller use to be resurrection catholic parish, many albanian immigrant had mass there,

My street in Hamtramck has one of every type of people, but the largest population is still White [[presumably Polish/Eastern European) and Asian [[presumably Bengali).
