Oh if it were that simple!

When mankind see corruption within our government. It must be changed with words of peace. If that didn't work it must be change with war! Our this social conflict we will see reconstruction that you never seen before.

Revolution will not end, even when society and nature changes.

    Default Serious Occupy Question

If OD stays until the end of the year, will all participants who are not already CoD residents pay City income tax on the income [[surely some have had jobs at least part of the year) they earned in 2011, and declare, as required by law, on their state and federal taxes the value of gifts, such as food and blankets, that are given to them? Wouldn't want BigGov activists being cheap when it comes to paying their fair share. Just wondering [[note: I already know the answers). But, keep on keeping on, OD. Gives me a reason to chuckle every day.

Surely you are not suggesting attaching personal responsibility to government programs, are you? What's next, drug testing for unemployment and welfare? Compulsory school attendance for the children of WIC and welfare recipients?

    PROLETARIAN NEWS!!!

Victory for the 99 Percenters, Bank of America has dropped the 5 monthly fee to its members who uses their bank debit cards. Chase Bank has dropped its 13 dollar monthy fee for its members who uses the checking accounts. My Comrads, corporations who possess their need for greed will be defeated by the mighty hammer of justice and the sickle of peace. But there is still more greed and other kleptocracies that need to be destroyed. The U.S. Government and all the governments around the world must break away from corporate favors. Our mantra will be heard or else lose their power in office by election days in the coming years. Main Street and proletarians will have their day, brothers and sisters. Socialist democracy will be established to ever nation in this planet. Everyone will free universal health care, good schools and developing education, nice home, car, good jobs and earning priviledges. March on my comrads, the revolution is not over. We have a world to win and developing human civilazation to repair.

Drove past their today while on business in the area. I didn't see a single person around the area. Unless they were all in their tents for lunch. This was around noon.

Detroit Pole said: "This could have been a legitimate movement, but it always seems like good activism is hijacked by the anarchist types and thus becomes...another 1%. "

Which is why the 98% that are not part of the anarchist 1% should go down there or call their local talk show, or talk to friends, family and neighbours to tell them which demands they support and which they don't. The point that most people could probably agree with would be
They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses.
This movement has created a space for addressing the issues and countering the Tea Party. You don't have to agree with 100% of the Occupy movements issues just keep the discussion going.

In conversations with a couple "occupiers", they mentioned that the movement happening in Detroit as well as other smaller cities is more of a show of solidarity with NY group than a direct assault on the banks in Detroit. It's anecdotal, and I'm sure a lot of people have different reasons, but that seems rational to me.

To the libertarian who thinks liberalism is "delusional to the realities of the world": talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Geez.

From today's Free Press: Rally to support Occupy Detroit protest [[scroll down)
Occupy Detroit has grown since it started and now takes up the entire west side of the park.

It was a great rally yesterday. Couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day.

I wonder how many of these 99%rs will vote today? Probably 1%

Why vote when it is more fun to throw a tantrum and get instant attention? You also have the added benefit of not needing to study and actually understand the issues.

Very well stated... actual thoughts went into these statements.... not one line snarky comments that require no thought whatsoever...

I have to laugh when Danny starts making more sense than some of the regular posters, who throw out insult bombs... because it's easier than using real logic to make a point! Granted not a whole lot of everything they [[OWS) do makes sense... but then the same can be said for both political parties...

But it must suck getting old, and start sounding like your parents and grand parents when they were lambasting all those "freakin long haired hippies against the Vietnam War".... Deja Vu, and yet they don't see the similarities...a pity...

Have any of you actually visited Occupy Detroit? Did any of you go to the rally? Have you gone to the website and read any of the discussions or declarations? It’s so easy to sit behind a computer screen and gas on about things you know nothing about, these young people are living their principles.

They won’t read it, they just like to snipe. It’s why I rarely come here any more, the meanness is only equalled by the stupidity.

So here they are protesting in the middle of a broken down city.....who cares? Where they should be right now is at Oakland University, making sure the Republican canidates see them, maybe even disrupt the event. Bring some attention to the cause..... probably will not and again another day goes by and no one really notices.
You can't provoke change by sitting on your ass in a tent just to prove a point. Had the protesters in Lybia, just sat on their ass in a tent, nothing would have been accomplished. So go ahead and sit there.....see what happens.

Who said that there wouldn't be occupiers at Oakland University today? Do you really think that people just sleep in their tents all day?

Sleep all day? No, just in between bong hits and visits to the chow tent. I kid of course.

I'm sure there will be a crowd of protesters at the debate at OU. It'll be interesting if they try to disrupt or shout down the candidates. Apparently some think free speech is for protesters, not their political opponents.

Market style capitalism has lifted over one billion people worldwide out of abject poverty since 1960. In fact the trend has accellerated over the past 5 years. http://yaleglobal.yale.edu/content/l...educed-poverty

It is an amply documented fact that Communist governments murdered upwards of 100 million of their citizens during the Twentith Century. http://www.amazon.com/Black-Book-Com.../dp/0674076087. Communism is almost always associated with totalitarianism, material deprivation, and near total loss of individual freedom and human rights.
Capitalism v. communism is a false dichotomy. Lots of European countries have mixed economies that are capitalist with socialist programs like national health care. We pay more and get less health care. How is that smart? We are being royally screwed by the drug companies and the health insurance companies. In Michigan we could start by allowing our citizens to sue drug companies. Does any other state deny its citizens that right?

First of all there would be lots of chatter to encourage more people to show up and from all my connections they have not heard anything of the sort.

And secondly if your going to quote me make sure you get it right....I NEVER said sleep in their tents all day. Never said anything about sleep or all day. Your assuming to know what I meant and you know what they say about assuming.

Lol.. it was clearly implied that they do nothing but lay around. I guess that your "connections" haven't been paying attention because they have been bringing up the Oakland University event for days.
