    Default Detroit/Michigan Christmas songs

I belong to another forum, and every year we do a Secret Santa exchange. I always go with a Michigan themed package. This year I wanted to include a CD with Christmas songs by Detroit/Michigan artists old and new. Here's what I have so far:

Sock It To Me Santa - Bob Seger & The Last Heard
Someday At Christmas - Stevie Wonder
Cum On Get Your Toys - Dick the Bruiser Band
Nuthin' For Christmas - The Trash Brats
Tell The Lord [[What Santa's Done) - Goober & The Peas
Santa Claws Is Coming To Town - Alice Cooper
Candy Cane Children - The White Stripes
Santa's A Fat Bitch - Insane Clown Posse [[I know, I know... I'm doing it anyway)
Deck The Halls - Ted Nugent
    Iggy Pop - White Christmas
Wally Bronner [[Christmas Always) - The Hard Lessons
A generic christmas song that was used in Meijer ads years ago found here: http://www.city-data.com/forum/michi...tmas-song.html

I've tried to stay away from some of the more obvious Motown stuff, but may throw a few it as well. Anyone think of some more obscure ones or obvious ones I may have missed?

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band recorded "Little Drummer Boy" for a Special Olympics Christmas album in '87.

    I don't know if this is kosher, but here's a free MP3.

Yeah, knew of that one, but wanted to stick to one Seger song, and I like "Sock It To Me Santa" a lot better.

You can't go wrong with the Da Yoopers.

Their Christmas CD is Naked Elves in Cowboy Boots. Their early CD, One Can Short of a Six Pack, contains several Christmas songs [[including, I think, the classic Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer).

Oh yeah, JJ & the Morning Crew's "Miracle on Ice" [[done by Sid Disabled, I think). It's on their first Parodies for Charity CD.

Thanks for the link, Brock. I didn't know that came from a Special Olympics album. Now it's on my computer and my mp3 player...ready for the holidays!

I have one of these Christmas in Detroit CDs, but as I recall it was mostly terrible. I don't remember which one. Anything connected to Mitch Albom seems to suck ass.

Didn't the Polish Muslims have a Chistmas single based on Van Morrison's "Gloria" along with the Latin Chistmas carol "Gloria". I believe it was backed by "Auld Langs Eye" [[guessing on the spelling) done to the tune of "A Hard Day's Night". It is not listed on their Christmas CD that was posted above. I been looking on youtube for these songs, I only remember hearing them on rock radio [[WRIF or WCSX) about 20 years ago.

I have a Thornetta Davis CD of Christmas songs. They are all covers except for one written by her, "Remember Love on Christmas" which is also the title of the CD.

Between Insane Clown Posse and Alice Cooper, I already have enough people wearing too much make-up...

Can't believe I forgot Sufjan Stevens, putting "Get Behind Me Santa" on there. Throwing Da Yoopers "Rusty Chevrolet" on there as well.

Speaking of Christmas songs, anyone know if WNIC will be playing them again this year after their format change?

Not your classic Christmas song, but I always get a kick out of this...
