Overall good news! It's not everyday you hear of a hotel upgrading with a fancier flag in Detroit.

Very cool. I was hoping for a classic 5 diamond flag like Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton or even a Hyatt [[4 diamond). Never looked at the Edition brand.
401don..definitely not updated. They quote 2017 in the wording of the article. Hopefully these numbers aren't that old!
Why is no one discussing/celebrating this? For as long as I can remember, we have ALWAYS been in the top 5 for murder rates in America. In 2021, we aren't even in the top 10! Has this even happened...
Good. The rooms need a refresh. They are 13 years old and becoming very dated. I'm sure Westin/Marriott has been putting pressure on the current owners to renovate.
Whole I have not been involved with this development, I worked at Village Green [[VG) for many years and managed properties for VG/Holtzman. VG itself doesn't own/hasn't owned any properties as they...
Unfortunately, I am not a member of Crain's but I see in the first few sentences that Fairlane is potentially facing liquidation! Anyone have any insider info here? The mall still seems viable with...
When I was downtown today, I got a look at the former Holiday Inn Express/new Hotel Indigo and couldn't help but notice the paint job and overall look resembles the building's original incarnation as...
Lived here my whole life..[[I’m 38).
Bought my first house in Huntington Woods 11 years ago during the recession, upgraded 5 years ago and built a house four houses down on a teardown lot....
When the The Ren Cen was built in the 70s it was designed to be an attraction that would lure visitors to the building and be a "city within a city." A movie theater, many high end stores and...
Actually, the rich and elite probably left Brush Park years before suburbia was developed. I would guess that many of them left for newer homes in the city like in Palmer Woods, Sherwood Forest,...
HereÂ’s a listing of local former Jack in the Box restaurants..

I found an ad for it in the Detroit Jewish news archives from January 1977. The ad refers to “Host Frank Stratton.” The restaurant definitely wasn’t there 30 years as someone alluded to earlier as...
I haven’t seen this discussed previously. I was downtown yesterday and noticed from afar that Giordano’s had paper covering its windows and door. I then googled Giordano’s in Detroit and according to...
There's no reason this can't work. Homes in the backyard of this former motel are going for 150k-250k. Across the street in Palmer Woods/Sherwood/Green Acres we know what's occurring with home...
The article actually stated “Detroit” [[not downtown Detroit) renters. Also the article didn’t state that renters “want out of living” in Detroit. It just stated that according to apartments.com,...
Agree, this seems much more viable as a hotel and would appeal to short term guests seeking out LCA events rather than long-term residents.
The hotels that continuously are being built in the suburbs are select service/low convention space hotels. While the full service, larger hotels suffer.
Between this hotel, the former Dearborn Hyatt, the former Michigan Inn in Southfield and the former Northfield Hilton in Troy, the suburban closed hotels are piling up quick. Is this a result of the...
Disagree completely. Again, the last time an occupied building was at Hudson’s was in 1983! The last time an occupied building was at Statler was 1975. I would take a 5 story quality occupied...
7-8 years ago, I would have been fine with a 5 story building being built where Hudson's was considering we hadn't seen an occupied building in that space for 30 years! It's one thing if occupied...
Again, let me remind everyone this site hasn’t seen an occupied building in 44 years! Let’s just be happy a multi story building with high-end, quality apartments will occupy it. I know City Club,...
The Lodge turns into Northwestern Hwy in Southfield just west of Telegraph [[the mixing bowl). East of Telegraph, Northwestern Hwy is the service drive for The Lodge.
I notice that as they replace...
I am hosting three out of towners on a last minute driving tour of the city tonight. Any events or landmarks that are open that I should be sure to bring them to? Unfortunately, a lot of the large...
The hotel has sold three times in the last 11 years. The 2007 sale, the owner paid 40 million right before the recession. They defaulted and the hotel was picked up in 2010ish by an inexperienced...
