Yeah, what the hell?
Absolutely and great post. Both the logical short term and long term plan.
That's not what I said.
GM has right sized with not a ton of people in the office... whether that was at RenCen or the Block. Any thought that GM would magically have tens of thousands of...
Still think it's clearly good news.
The RenCen is a major issue whether or not GM stayed there. And we have to understand reality - GM [[for both COVID and general downsizing) will never have...
With the demand for more hotels downtown, seems like converting one or two of the smaller RenCen towers into hotels would make a ton of sense.
Marriott probably wouldn't love it, but whatever.
I like it how it is.
Don't even need the Old English D. Just straight, strong font...represents us. Strong, bold.
Love it!
Going to help out the CBD a ton as the RenCen is essentially a fortress.
Now just make the RenCen apartments/condos [[maybe one tower for offices).
Honestly, I kind of like it. It's getting crapped on, but it's fine and probably looks cool when you drive in.
Do agree with others...hope this doesn't get painted right away.
Edition Hotels no longer shows Detroit as an upcoming opening.

Does anyone know the current timeframe for the incubator space and apartment building to begin construction? Nice to see this project finaaaaaaaaally get off the ground.
FYI - sounds like the...
Oh, they definitely know. It's one of the reasons they hide Chris Ilitch from reporters, to limit the PR damage.
I get what you're saying, but look how much the whole PAL complex is activated from field to conference room.
There is no reason a little creative thinking couldn't make the complex a ton more...
Any insinuation the renovation of MCS is a land grab at the expense of the city is incredibly laughable.
Eh, not sure that's true.
I've been in the Pistons Performance Center for multiple community events and they also have Plum Market open to the community which many HFH folks in particular use.

The Lions have talked recently about wanting a new facility and possibly moving out of Allen Park.
It's just a tweet, but Terry Foster - who I'm sure is still connected - is saying he's hearing...
Not to be a negative Nancy, but I think they may have done the demo recently just so they have m ore space for the draft... and there really are not near term plans for the site.
“We’ve got three other restaurants on Randolph that we’re working seriously to get leases final to get those open as well,” she said.

Yep! MSU alum here. Been really fun to follow those guys. Hope we can win the Big Ten this weekend in Madison!
For anyone who follows college hockey, UM is pretty good this year and MSU is the best they've been in decades [[possible one seed in NCAAs). Fun times for hockey fans in this state.
If I'm Gilbert's team, I'm reaching out to the owner. Would be such a neat [[and likely very popular) destination downtown.
Oh god lol
I'm leery about this post-COVID, but the fact they are even taking these steps seems encouraging.
If they were planning on continuing to just sit on the property, why put the $$$ in for the...
The fact they tore up the parking lot - and Ilitch can't make more money on it - gives me a little optimism this actually likely will happen.
Great. Thanks.
Anybody driven by recently? Have they actually begun?
