If the enforcement is stricter than it is at other State Parks, I think there's a problem. If not, why should people be treated with kid gloves just because it's Detroit?

So what???????????????????????????????????
Makes me so proud that my old neighborhood [[48205) is one of the hotspots. God help us. If [[when) I go back there, I'll sure as hell be carrying.
Time flies. I was working as a claims adjuster at the time & had spent the Friday before working in the 12th Street area. Lived near Denby High. No problems in that area.
Nice. Nothing like a little hate to brighten the day.
Great point, Eastland. I wonder what the response would be if members of the parish specifically asked the AoD why they were losing their priest. I suspect the response would be a polite [[or not...
That's what bothers me most about this: "There's no explanation therefor the priest must have done something wrong". If that's the case it's news to those in the parish who are very close to Fr.
As KR says, the bottom line is that this parish had a wonderful pastor [[administrator, to be precise) who wanted to stay at St. Jude who is being "forced" to go back to Nigeria by the AoD. Makes no...
Agree that these are examples of the work of the Catholic Church but many [[most) are the work of religious orders not the AoD. The Catholic Church isn't giving Fr. Jovita the boot. It's the AoD.
...
Kind of ironic that Africa is sending missionaries to the USA, isn't it?
Sorry, KR. I didn't see your thread before I started mine. Of course, you started the original St. Jude thread, didn't you?
OK - for starters, I've been riding a motorcycle since I was 18 and am now almost 68. I also spent over 40 years in the insurance business. I still ride 5 - 10,000 miles a year all around the...
SWMAP, I'd appreciate your letting us know what you learn about this situation.
St. Jude parish is very dear to me, having grown up there in the 50s.
I attended the parish's 70th anniversary...
Do you have information on this case in particular? My concern is the effect of the dismissal of Fr. Jovita on St. Jude parish and on the community as a whole. It's my understanding that Fr....
Last week the Archdiocese of Detroit informed the pastor of St. Jude parish on Detroit's northeast side that his services were no longer needed. He was told to contact his bishop in Nigeria for...
I PMed Lowell about this. He also suggested new thread.
Great points, KR.
Lowell, do you ever check in here to see what's going on? This is an important topic & should be open to discussion in the main forum. I recognize that this thread had...
Seems the discussion has moved to FB. I, for one, am thoroughly pissed at the AoD. Guess the diocese is just overrun with guys wanting to serve in the highest crime area of the city. I don't know...
I see no mention of St. Jude in today's Freep story on church closings & mergers. Any info from the Peanut Gallery?
The amazing JC!
I believe the report I saw said St. Jude & St. Matthew would be combined with St. Jude being the worship center due to lower operating costs. What say you CFG?
The diocesan recommendations on church closings looked promising to me.
Great 70th anniversary celebration. Good to see a few fellow DYers there.
I'm counting on seeing you there. Along with Campfire Girl, JCole, Kellyroad and many others.
Just a reminder about the 10/29 celebration at St. Jude. Hope to see you all there.
