They were cutting down elm trees that were fine too, had to be a juicy contract someone had with the city I'm sure.

Gotham City Cafe, early 90s on Woodward near 9 mi. I think it was next to an Elk's lodge or something.
Thirty years ago
The neighborhood was pristine
Caution needed now
Just curious if you have kids or not?
I think there was one at 10 mile and Kelly.
There was one at the SW corner of Morang and Kelly. Used to go there for candy, comics and video games in the late 70s-early 80s. It was closer to my house than the 7-11 on Morang near Cadieux.
I might try one if I won the powerball jackpot.
Damn hate hearing about this stuff, though it shouldn't surprise me. A few times a year I drive down Kelly Rd to Sweetheart bakery for bday cakes and the area looks worse each time.
"Hamtramck Heights City Hall" or something similar.
Not kroger, Trader Joe's! ;)
The only toy stores I remember in Eastland were Circus World and Kay Bee, 70s-90s anyways.
Ah maybe it was Bears Den. Hm I know I've been to Berkley Front around that time too, it's all a blur now.
Long time since I was there, late 90s. I think Howling Diablos was playing... wasn't there a stuffed bear in that place? lol
Yep I've heard the derogatory "Harper Hoods" being used for some time now.
There's a few vids on youtube:

I saw them at school too, at Carleton elementary and/or Dorothy Fisher middle, same time period as you...
Easy, just go early. This year we went on a Sunday and got there about 9:30 am. No traffic and no wait for the cider and donuts.
In the Summer I think we went during the week, after lunch and it...
Yates is our fav. We go there in the summer too for the ice cream.
Yeah, but in a nutshell we'd go trick'r'treating on our block and a few adjacent ones. Almost every house had their porchlight on and we'd get a hefty pillowcase full of goodies. ;)
Yeah, I hate seeing the bars on the homes.
My family used to eat at the one in Eastland [[it that still there?) in the 70s-80s period. I swear it was much better back then. Last time I was at one, early 2000s, it was meh.
Sympathy to her family. I never met her either but enjoyed reading what she had to say.
In the good ol' days before the internet got so big, MT was much better. They lost a ton of classified $ to craigslist I imagine. As the years went by the classifies section got smaller and smaller....
My first memories of White Castle.. eating in the car with my family when I was little, early '70s at the 8 mile/ gratiot location. Also all the stainless steel and the stools when I waited inside...
I remember a bookmobile parked near the Chatham's grocery store on Morang, earlier 1980s. I checked out a few books from there and I tought it was neat. We also went to a couple of branches around...
Heck, even 20 something years ago.
