Here we go. I like the Gustufson pick up for goal. Can't rely on McDonalds bad back. Samuelson might work might not. Can't see the Tootoo deal. And now we have to hear the stupid Tootoo horns on top of all the bs canned muzak. I want Nash.

Here we go. I like the Gustufson pick up for goal. Can't rely on McDonalds bad back. Samuelson might work might not. Can't see the Tootoo deal. And now we have to hear the stupid Tootoo horns on top of all the bs canned muzak. I want Nash.
We're only going to hear those stupid horns IF we want to bring them to the Joe. I'm hoping and praying that the masses won't be as gullible as to bring them. I'd say the Tootoo horns are about as tolerable as the guy banging the drum at Cleveland Indian games. I'd much rather have my spleen dragged across east bound I-94 during rush hour traffic than hear those noises.
Let's see what Monday morning will bring with the Parise and supposedly Suter announcements. Personally I'm bummed we didn't get Schultz- he seemed to have an amazing high side to his game.
Gone are the days when Mike Ilitch's wallet would be wide open and we could go out there and hire the best in the league.
We've been accused of '' buying '' the Stanley Cup until we won the Cup in the salary cap era . One thing we have going is our superb scouting if you take a look at some of our best players and which round we drafted them . As far as Tootoo goes , I remember when Chelios first came here , he was not well liked before that and I suspect Tootoo will be the same . He hustles , skates well , willing to crash and bang and will score given the ice time , the Preds scratched him in the playoffs in favor of bringing that Russian in who went back to Russia to play . As far as that train whistle [[horn ) its annoying , but it was sold and the proceeds went to charity . Hopefully today will bring the news that we Got Parise and or Suter
If they blow the horns for Tootoo when he does good then it should be minimal. Unless its a beer drinking contest.
I dont think we have a shot at Parise, Suter I think its a possibility.
Samuelson? UGH
Parise seems like a long shot. Nash is out of the question- just because he's in our division. But Suter? He's a must and rumor has it for $90 million for 13 years- but if he's durable, he'd be good. I still think we need a rugged sniper sort of left winger for this team.
Hudler says good bye and he can take his Marty LaPointe-esque money and spend it in Calgary. Ain't no way we pay that sort of money for a guy who can only be effective on that side of the red line.
I'd like us to get Shane Doan and Matt Carle.
That may be an option since both Parise and Suter signed with Minnesota today
I had a feeling we wouldn't get either of those guys. I thought it odd the Wings made it so obvious they wanted them so bad. I'm still hoping for Nash.
Who ya gonna give up for Nash? I know Nash might flourish surrounded with some better talent, but after living in Suckeyeville for 5 yrs & going to a lot of games, I don't see him as all he's cracked up to be.
I'll give Franzen, Filpula and Abdelkader. Been watching Nash since he played juniors with London Knights. He's a stud. A dominating player on a crappy team. He'll get 50 goals a season with the Wings.
One of the hockey columnist here in Suckeyeville wrote a piece about Nash a few days ago for the Columbus Dispatch....think it was Mike Arace.
Essentially he was begging Howson...for the love of everything holy PLEASE PLEASE don't let the Wings have Nash. I thought it was kinda funny.
I agree on Franzen.....too streaky, and overpaid. Good to have at times, but not at the current price. He'd be the first guy I'd throw on the table.
After our weekly pickup skate last night over a few ginger ales in the parking lot I queried my hockey buddies on this deal. They all agreed Columbus would not take this deal. With great reluctance we added Ericksson to the deal. I think Ilitch was taken aback by Parise and Suter turning him down. I think he wants to do something big to make up for it. Nash is the answer.
It would be nice to land Nash and Doan. We still need at least one top defensemen, since we lost both Nick and Stuart, but I don't see much left on the free agent market.
I'm aware of Yandle and agree, he'd be a perfect fit on the Wings blue-line.
Rumor has it the Wings offered a considerable amount for Nash , but the Blue Jackets did not respond because they want some of our better players , draft picks etc . something we don't do is give up our up and coming or young players that we have groomed [[something other teams do for a quick fix . ) Doan has extended the time he gave the franchise to get their act together to stay in Phoenix . I think Yandle and Doan would be a great fit [[pieces of the puzzle) , and not have to bet the farm like the Parise/Suter contracts would have .
So the Ranges stole Nash from Columbus. I gotta believe we offered a better package but the Blue Jackets just didn't want to face him in their own division. Always fun talking hockey when its 97 and humid.
The NHL/NHLPA are currently in talks for a new CBA , one of the topics is these mega year contracts , owners want to limit those to 5 years . The game has rebounded from the cancelled season , and I'm hoping they come to an agreement , especially with the Winter Classic at the Big House this upcoming season and all the games scheduled at Comerica Park
Damn lockout is officially enacted... and I'm not at all for one frippin' second happy about it. I saw one shortened season and that felt like we got ripped off. I saw one season eliminated before and that felt like a kick to the family jewels. And now I can see the same sh!t happening again. I'm not happy. Not ONE bit. So before I really get more aggravated about the situation, they still have some time to get their collective asses together and hammer out a deal before the beginning of training camp.

Its greed vs greed ... millionaires vs millionaires . The NHL as a whole is making money don't let them fool you . The problem is that Buttman's expansion isn't panning out with 18 of 30 teams losing money and the ones that make money have to share revenue .. teams in Florida , Nashville . Phoenix , Carolina just don't have the fan base , gotta cut a couple of those teams loose . Part of the revenue us as fans can control is but NHL related stuff whether it be Wings stuff or other , Center Ice on cable/satellite , buying from sponsors of the NHL .. cars etc. Maybe if fans would quit buying this stuff to show that we are the NHL , without us there would be no NHL . I won't buying any Wings/NHL stuff , no Center Ice ,no Hockeytown Cafe visits , no Tigers games or merchandise , no pizza pizza ... sorry Mr.I as a member of the Board of Governors , I'm doing my small part to make you pay for giving Buttman authorization for a lockout [[for the 3rd time ) Here's a proposal from the NHLPA [[National Hockey League Fans Association) not an official NHL site , but the NHL does work with them through occassional surveys sent to fans .
Hockey Fans Call for a Reasonable Solution
August 17, 2012
For immediate release
[[OTTAWA) - The economic divide has been established between the NHL and the NHLPA in the latest round of collective bargaining. Both sides are content with maintaining a salary cap and revenue sharing system, however, the league is pushing the players to accept 43% of hockey related revenues [[HRR), down significantly from the current 57% the players collectively earn each season. The players' counter proposal calls for "delinking" the HRR from the salary cap. This alternative to the floating amount of income would see a fixed rate of growth for the players' share over the next three seasons. In season one, the fixed increase towards the players' financial share would increase by 2%; in year two increase by 4%; and, in year three increase by 6%. In year four, the players propose they hold an option to revert back to the full 57% against the floating or sliding increases/decreases in HRR.
The league's proposal goes too far, calling for a massive rollback in players' salaries, equal to more than 24% of the players' existing share of HRR. The players' proposal does not go far enough and is a temporary business solution that leaves owners with a cloudy financial future, and possibly nothing gained in year four and beyond.
The NHL Fans' Association [[NHLFA) proposes that both parties agree to roll back salaries, to a level that is acceptable in the professional sports sector. To be fair to both sides, the players' share of HRR should gradually roll back to a 50-50 spilt with owners. Each year, beginning this season, the players' share of HRR should be reduced by 1%. After six years, the 50-50 split would be achieved. The players would barely notice the financial pain and the owners would be assured of greater gains in a few short years.
For the sake of all stakeholders in the game, especially the fans, the length of the new CBA should be 10 years.
Penalties and fines for serious on-ice infractions should be determined by a third party group comprised of a player representative, a league representative and three elected fans [[paid a per diem for their services). A league official [[currently Brendan Shanahan) overseeing these duties does not foster a strong partnership between the league and players.
The fans, who are the primary stakeholders in the game, need a voice in the direction of the NHL. Rule committees need fan representation. It is time for the league and players to recognize that intelligent, unbiased fans exist and can contribute nicely to the game.

I had the MotorCity Mechanics to get me through the last lockout , but not this time .. I won't be attending Plymouth Whaler games either as they are owned by another member of the NHL Board Of Governors [[Peter Karmanos -Carolina )
There will no NHL hockey this season due to the lockout! So the Red Wings players are going someplace else to play hockey.
If they don't get it worked out soon Detroit/Ann Arbor will miss out on the Winter Classic at the Big House Wings vs Leafs , 2 alumni games at Comerica Park Wings vs Leafs , 2 OHL games , an AHL game [[Grand Rapids) the Great Lakes Invitational tourney , High School games , public skating and with that goes millions of dollars for the local economy .... millionaires vs millionaires
It definitely isn't looking good but I'm wondering if by chance that the Alumni Games still might get under way without the blessing of the NHL. Screw them if they don't want to get onboard of what should be one helluva sweet event. Does anyone know if the respective teams' Alumni teams are beholden to the NHL in any way? Or are they outside the weasel like grasp of Bettman?
Seriously if they're somehow beyond his slimy clutches, I say we get as many of these games on as possible. Why not at least enjoy some hockey as opposed to no hockey at all??
For anyone thats interested, Fox Sports Detroit will televise a Grand Rapids Griffins game this Friday with Ken & Mickey doing the honors
I'm really enjoying the classic games Hockey Night In Canada is showing. Great hockey, much better than Bettman's 'New NHL'. When he changed the NHL logo and got rid of the great division names like Norris and Campbell I knew it was going to get bad. The man continues to destroy the game I love. I'll watch the Griffins game. Used to get some Whaler games on local cable a few years ago.
I agree. I shudder to think where us sports fans would be if not for the Tiger's postseason run. The Lions are frustrating, as usual. I lost interest in the NBA a while back. The Wolverines might add some excitement this year, but that's about it.
I can't believe the powers that be in the NHL are going this far. Do they not fear the damage that will inevitably caused by this lockout?
What happens after the World Series has ended? I guess I'll have to find a hobby.
You'd be listening to lockout non-news 24/7 like I am here in Toronto. The city now has 5 all-sports tv stations, 2 all-sports radio stations and 4 major newspapers. Other than "Why did our manager quit on us and go to the Red Sox?" it's non-stop interviews about the lockout. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I've already given up hope and moved on and thats a shame for some of us longtime fans of the game [[went to my first game in 1955 ) The NHL has to look at some of these teams who habitually lose money [[12 teams out of 30 ?) and cut some of the fat so there is less revenue sharing from the teams that do turn a profit . The players are fine with the way it is now , more teams , the more players , the more NHLPA members . One would think a players contract would be reward enough , but they want some of the owners profits as well . This lockout is a carbon copy of the last lockout/cancelled season ... but with one difference ... people are really pissed about this one ... nobody does business like this anymore . Both the NHL and NHLPA are taking us fans for granted this time around and should find an excuse to get back to work while they hash out a deal . Until then whatever hockey is on tv I'll watch Whalers etc. ESPN had a London vs Erie OHL game on last week
It appears the lockout may be over pending a vote by the players . I'm sure the networks that show NHL games will be happy , because they pay the NHL for broadcasting right regardless if their playing or not . Now the NHL has to do damage control with the NHL sponsors/advertisers , and they've probably lost some fans along the way [[not this one ) :D
If anyone is interested and able to get Fox Sports Detroit , The Wings and the Grand Rapids Griffins will mix their rosters and play a scrimmage tonight at the Compuware Arena in Plymouth , face off is at 6 p.m. on FSD
Blues fan here.
Best of luck tomorrow. Should be a good season.
wow we got killed, wasn't ready for this start. Cant get off to a slow start because of the short season
How can we have so many injuries after being off for 9 months?
I thought it might be interesting to see a possible mass exodus of season ticket holders if indeed the Wings don't make the playoffs. But now I hear season ticket sales are already up for next year with Canadians buying due to more games with Toronto. Makes sense since they can't get a ticket to a Leafs home game.
Some of the players didn't play elsewhere during the lockout and tried to have structured practices on their own , even with players on opposing teams but its not the same as a training camp , pre-season games . I will not miss the western road trips , 10 pm starts and playoff games that last until 2 am or longer . Any Canadian team that comes to the Joe generate more fans from Canada , now that we'll have the Maple Laffs and the Habs in on a regular basis , it will be a good thing and I look forward to be playing more original 6 teams again .
Along that line it will be good to have an influx of out-of-area canadian patronage into the D on a regular basis. Without a doubt, the Leafs and Habs fanbase travel very well. And they will come, stay and spend more regularly than Hawks fans ever did. Hell, most Hawks fans came and stayed in their mom's basement for free and ate her food. LOL
I could care less about this season. I didn't expect them to play anyways.
Having Detroit in the East next season will be exiting, I might actually start watching again. With the exception of Chicago, there is nobody we play on a regular basis worth the time if day.
LGRW!!!!!!!
Duck..... it's what's for dinner!

Worst call of the year. He had the puck. It's hockey. If you have the puck, you might get hit. Really bad call.
If they want soccer, they should go to a soccer game.
Text book body check, just how I learned it in youth hockey and just how I taught it as a coach. Notice the ref right next to the play called nothing. The ref 65 ft away called it. This is what Bettman, a basketball guy, has brought to the NHL. And shame on Shanahan, who was one of my favorite players, drawing a paycheck as a Bettman yesman. If they suspend him its even more of a farce.
Baseball: A sport where hitting is allowed. Perhaps the new NHL should consider allowing hits, too.
Downriviera: I agree, and this makes me sad, about Mr. Shanahan, one of my favorite players, ever. Bettman I wrote off, years ago.
"Text book body check" is an accurate description. Did the ref 60 feet away get a phone call?
What a shame.
Well Bettman finally got his grand wish granted when the Kings finally won a cup last season to very little [[read: absolutely NO) fanfare. I suppose that one should only keep their head up when in open ice and handling.... when it's convenient. 2 minute charging penalty MAX, and even that would draw debate. Whatever, this isn't really a season anyway. Looking forward to play in the Eastern Conference next year. Not that that'll make this team any better, but I am sure that they [[Red Wings) are looking much farther ahead than 2013.
The meeting was scheduled at 4 pm today , Abdelkater went shoulder to shoulder , no strides , glided in . If he gets suspended people will bitch , if he doesn't people will say thats because Shanny played for us . Looked like a legal hit to me , I've seen 5 times worse hits from Kronwall . Just announced Abdelkater got 2 games . Glad to even make it 22 straight years into the playoffs , lots of injuries this season , 3 of our D have zero playoff games , but when you have a college kid come in [[DeKeyser ) play better than a couple of veterans , and Smith looks like a minor league player , Bert needs to retire [[ I think he has spinal stenosis) Samuelsson ? why the hell did we bring him back . Brunner needs to quit the Swiss leauge shit , Cleary needs to go , look for some offseason moves
From a team that was willing to blow big money and land free agents Parise to Suter to signing benchwarmers like Colaiacovo, Tootoo, Samuelsson, and Gustavson in the off season is a farce.
Our best splashes so far have been Brunner and DeKeyser?
As much as I hate to say it, it's time to blow this puppy up and re-build. It's not a word spoken often in Hockeytown but let's face it- the rest of the NHL got much better and we've stood pat resting on past glories.
Tough loss. Only getting 1 shot an a 5 min pp really hurt. A goal there and we probably win. Another great effort by Howard, team just can't score to take advantage of solid goaltending. Wings are for sure a different team than we're used to. I like the hustle and the rookies are gaining valuable experience. I still like our chances in this series. Take care of business at home and I think Ducks choke in game 7.
Pretty straightforward assessment Downriviera. Everywhere I've been today, that 5 min PP is the fulcrum of the debate. And Jimmy has been outstanding.
I cannot for the life of me figure out this defense we have. At times these guys make great plays, settle into a groove and even chip in on scoring. Smith, 52 and Kindl made great strides this year, but they seem to always find a way of choking when the game is on the line and we need the best play out of them. Q is hit and miss - and probably always will be. Kronner has been pretty steady in my opinion. Lashoff has been brutal this playoff. Gotta hope he takes something from this experience. White and Colo are probably where they belong. Ironic, but deserved. Wonder how Suter would have settled in?
The D has struggled big time. Thank god Corey Perry is slumping or we wouldn't be in this series. Howard continues to bail them out but he can't score. Some of our grinders need to start banging in pucks in the scrambles. The thing is, we had Lidstrom and Stuart last year and lost 4 straight in the first round, so already better than that.
I'd try out Smith on the wing next season during pre-season since that seems to be where he is alot . We have to bring up a couple of guys like Tatar next season , he was a force when he was up . Buy out Samuelsson's contract , Bert will probably retire as I believe he may have spinal stenosis from the description of his symptoms . Sign one free agent D , is it time to cut Cleary loose ? Not sure how long our players contracts remain , but its time to get our NHL ready players up from GR , boy that DeKeyser was like getting a 1st rounder for a song and dance , its pretty bad when a kid straight out of college outshines a couple of our other D . We'll have a lower salary cap next season , only so much we can do
It's tough for a fan to say it, but yes some of the veterans need to move over. Homer did it, and we praised his career. Cleary is definitely holding the hot potato in this case. He's been steady for us, put up his best offensive season 1-2 years ago..... but he looks noticeably a step behind and loses important puck battles more than naught.
Agreed on Tatar. He's got a solid shot at being a intricate piece to this team. Nyquist will get better if he gets bigger/stronger. Joakim and Brunner have some serious growing to do - mentally and physically - but they have proven to me that they are on the right track.
All in all, we made the big dance; from what I can see so far there is no reason we shouldn't come back with a stronger team next year. In order for this to happen though, Kenny will need to wave his magic wand over the D corps and do something..... anything to get them solidified.
Looks like our youngsters have started to build some chemistry and starting to play their positions they way it should be played . Outside of that one blowout by the Blackhawks all games were close and we even gave one away , so I expect a good round 2 vs Chicago [[if we play the way we did last night)
Making the post season and winning in 1st round is more than I expected with this group due to all the injuries and rookies. They battled hard as a team and that was good to see. I was really hoping for one last dance with the Hawks before we head east, so lets go!
We won't be able to outscore our defensive miscues against the Hawks, they have to many guys that can make you pay. Howard bailed us out against the Ducks many times but that won't work this time. With a little better defense, a little more scoring and some improvement on the pp and we can take them. I have good friends in Chicago but there are no pleasentries exchanged when we play them in the playoffs. Keep your heads up boys, its gonna be fun.
My recipe for success...... Corey Crawford pulls a hammy. Patrick Kane gets locked up for three days after punching a mounted police officer in the horse. Kronwall ends Marian Hossa's season in game one with a super clean, super explosive hit. And we need toews to share a bad bottle of sake with Ducan Keith this weekend.
Game set match.
Go Wings!
I believe we'll play Chicago twice next season . I don't know why Columbus is going to the East next season
We'll play the Hawks once at home and once in their barn. Only way we see them in the playoffs would be the final series for the cup. I look forward to renewing the rivalries with Toronto and Montreal but will miss the Hawks. Those 2 games will still be good battles though.
The NHL was so cool. Good luck Wings!1981–1982 [edit]
- Chicago Black Hawks
- Detroit Red Wings
- Minnesota North Stars
- St. Louis Blues
- Toronto Maple Leafs
- Winnipeg Jets
Changes from the 1980–1981 season [edit]
- The Norris Division switches from the Prince of Wales Conference to the Clarence Campbell Conference
- The Hartford Whalers and Montreal Canadiens move to the Adams Division
- The Pittsburgh Penguins move to the Patrick Division
- The Los Angeles Kings move to the Smythe Division
- The Minnesota North Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs move in from the Adams Division
- The Chicago Black Hawks, St. Louis Blues, and Winnipeg Jets move in from the Smythe Division
You could see the Wings had no legs in game 1 vs Hawks. The tough 7 game battle with the Ducks and the travel took its toll, whereas the Hawks had an easy series and a short flight to Minneapolis one time. Hopefully we'll see a better effort in game 2 with 2 more days of rest.
The Leafs meltdown was tragic. I was watching CBC The National news program. They showed the thousands of Leaf fans that were watching the game outside in the plaza. In a matter of minutes they went from cheers and laughing to being utterly distraught. That was harsh.
As much as travel is to blame..... our defensive corps have been a huge liability. Most of them are coming off a terrific regular seasons, and they played incredible down the stretch. Having said that, a skilled team such as the hawks need not search long for ways to exploit their weaknesses. As a matter of fact, the Wings D is helping the hawks with that already.
On a brighter note, Jimmy Howard is probably playing the best hockey he has ever managed in his career. There's a guy who knows what a contract is for.
PS - Did they find Franzen or Filpulla yet? I heard they were lost somewhere between the Anaheim airport and DTW. Hope they turn up.
Filppula is a UFA next season , I say let him walk and use the money towards a quality D , I don't know whats up with Smith but he hasn't looked much better against the Hawks than he did first game of the season . Mule ? I like Babcock but if Bowman were the coach he would have been sat a couple of times already for lack of effort . And if I were Babcock I wouldn't use Brunner on the point . I watch other games and notice how quickly other teams D gets the biscuit out , thats what I want to see vs limp dick attempts that end up in our net lol
Jimmy Howard contiues to bail us out of the mistakes on D. If he can keep it up theres no telling how far we'll go. Might be the best goaltending performance for the Wings in the playoffs since Roger Crozier won the Conn Smythe in a losing effort in 66. Never thought we'd be up 2-1 in this series. I think winner of next game takes it.
I hate coming here and eating humble pie when I read my previous posts. The D has tightened up and Filpula and Franzen have both popped goals since my last rant.
That being said, one more win on Thursday would provide quite a spark for us and a death knell for the Hawks. The morale factor would be deafening. Meanwhile the previously tuned-out Wings fans are coming out in droves. Those who wrote off the NHL for their antics [[lockout) have puckered up and dug those old Maltby jersey's outta the closet. Hockeytown is back. And their hungry for more.
This time it's quite different for me personally. I can simply say this season has had it all for a Wings fan. One word: Magical
As much as I've been enjoying the NHL playoffs, I'm also watching the Memorial Cup games on the NHL network. London knocked off our hometown Plymouth Whalers in the OHL playoffs and are now in the Memorial Cup round robin. Dale Hunter coaches London and Tie Domi's son is on the team. The Memorial Cup is the hardest trophy to win in sports. Not only do you have to win four playoff rounds in your league, you then advance to a round robin against the 2 other leagues. Final is Sunday.
This is fun. Red Wings are playing exactly the right kind of game for the playoffs. The quote from CBC tonight was right on: "The Red Wings are like a rash that won't go away!"
Now, I'm off to Canada for the long weekend.
I'll be the first one to admit I never saw this coming.
A few months ago it looked pretty bad and we were on the verge of not making the playoffs. And now? This team is making some noise... and even if we don't go any further than this round, we're seeing the future of the Wings now and it looks pretty darn bright.
Taking Chicago to the brink of elimination is pretty damn cool. We can't let up now- and if LA taught us anything last year, keep riding this gravy train out to the bitter end.
Jimmy Howard's been stellar and, dare I say even stolen a few games for us. Hank & Pav have been solid, but what's really impressed me so far has been the youngsters. I never thought Kindl would come along so quickly. Smith has rebounded nicely. Andersson's been a stud defensively and is winning the big faceoffs. And Nyquist & Brunner have actually helped this team shed its slow image. It's not a bad time for this team to come together.
Again, I'm shocked but a pleasant shock.
TKshreve--- Many servings of humble pie, sad thing is as I start to see more and more Red Wing flags adorning more and more cars in an all of a sudden fashion, most people won't step up and take a slice-- Because "they" always believed!
From my previous post :
'' I don't know whats up with Smith but he hasn't looked much better against the Hawks than he did first game of the season . ''
Out of position on two Hawks goals , and he knows it by hanging his head on the bench . I think his audition should be over . Who knows we may win game 7 and move on and see more of Smith being out of position [[ D 101 - stay in position)
Count me as one who didn't think that was worthy of a penalty shot. At the time however I was glad. At that point in the game I would much rather give them a penalty shot, where the goalie has the advantage, than a 2 minute power play. Didn't work out though. True Smith is making rookie mistakes that are very noticeable. Others are making mistakes leading up to his mistakes too. Score on the pp and go up 2 goals and were not even talking about Smith. The pp not only didn't score, it didn't create any momentum. We have to be happy to be in a game 7 with the best team in the league, so lets have fun with it.
Well, the Red Wings surpassed expectations. The fact is: No team that cannot finish a series after leading 3 games to one, and has a successful power play percentage around five percent, deserves to win the Stanley Cup.
I just hope Mr. Bettman does not get his LA vs Pittsburgh series. Go Blackhawks!
The only thing about playing the Wings now is that Chicago was undressed a little bit. If I was a scout for LA, Pittsburgh or the Bruins I'd be combing over every bit of footage and there's a lot to see with regards to the Hawks' weaknesses. While Detroit played with grit & determination, our youth [[which isn't a bad thing for the long run) pushed them hard. Imagine what an experienced team can and will do to the Hawks now.
It doesn't get more exciting than a game 7 overtime. Like Micky Redmond says, "Ain't no place for a nervous person." Then a fluke shot off a skate sends us into disappointment. The boys battled hard and they deserve our praise for that effort. We are a scoring forward and #3 or 4 defenseman away from a cup. If Parise and Suter came here we would have it. Looking forward to next year.
The uproar over the call that negated the Hawks goal late in the 3rd is crazy. No one is talking about why they got a 3 on 1 break on that play. Its because Hank got hauled down from behind and lost the puck. Should have been a call there. Should have been a call on the slew foot on Flips too. So the NBC crew needs to quit whining.
I'd like to take Mike Milbury's noodle and crack it like a walnut lol
