I went shopping with my grandparents at Montgomery Wards and Federal's along Gratiot, west side between Lappin and Seven Mile many times and do not remember a Woolworth's there. I will not swear absolutely to lack of one but I do know for a fact we never shopped at one there and knowing my grandmother I think that if there were a Woolworth's there the odds would be slim to null that she would never have gone there with me at least once, unless it were located south of Seven Mile or east of Gratiot and would have required crossing one of those streets.
As for the 7/Gratiot corner I remember McDonald's on the southwest corner, but as for the northeast corner, not sure - possibly a gas station would be my guess. When going there, we normally did not drive buy the 7/Gratiot corner but instead my grandfather would take Hayes to Lappin then Lappin all the way to the parking lot around [[I believe) Hoyt just north of Montgomery Ward, crossing Gratiot at the light there.
As for 7/Mack Plaza, the dime store near Sander's was Kresge's. Woolworth's was located in the very southeast corner of the parking lot area, east of the Lerner Shops which I remember had many column-like display windows that you could walk between.
