CFG: Got to agree about EMG's pic. That is the visual of what you remember walking to church along Redmond with all the neighboors in the triangle on a Sunday morn.
Nawwwww,,,, no phone pole ---- Marty was so happy to hear yesterday, how good St. Jude is doing, and how we're all going to bring it into the 2100's!
You're so right!!! and the view as we walked to the credit union to do Mom and Dad's banking.
Of course, our own too - once we had the Little blue then brown passbook, that went up and down the transaction machine - and then there was the first car loan - also from the Credit Union!
One of my memories of the CU was , when I was about 7 or 8, taking all of the silver dollars that my god-mother had given me over the years and depositing them in a passbook savings account, thinking that they would be safe there and that when I went back to get my money out, I would get those self-same silver dollars back. Imagine my surprise....
I remember thinking the same thing. I had kept all my silver dollars in a plastic case, and it was a big deal to take them to the credit union - I think they were there too long for me to remember it was the silver dollars I was supposed to get back. I wonder how much money they made on us "silver dollar" kids?
You're right! I do remember them being from the 1800's! You''ve got a great memory!
First loan [[gratiously co-signed by Dad) from St. Jude Credit Union was for $550.00. I purchased a Sony [[no bologna) Stereo reciever, KLH speakers, w/ an eight track. That was back in 73'. Man that was livin'.
HEY! Turn that **&%$$#$@ down!
My first loan was $2100 for a powder blue 1972 Plymouth Duster- former executive Chrysler wife care - from the lease lot at Lynch road. It was a 2 door, and had a black and white racing strip on the sides. Quite the step up from the 68 Dodge Dart! - now THAT car, was a party car. I think we sold it with the "real lemons" still rolling from under the back seat - and salt imbedded in the carpeting from the techila shots down Gratiot! "Oh MY"
When "they" coined the phrase "God is my co-pilot" - they were referring to the driver of my car on many an occasion - back in the day! Now I'm good for a glass of wine and that's about it! :-)
CFG - I know what you mean. Now one glass then a nappy poo :o.
Certainly not like the old days when you woke up in bed the next day and said "Thank You JC" for getting me home safe.
Thanks for that picture - I've downloaded it for my files - I like it better than EITHER of the ones I had. Not only is it more of a closeup, but you got it on that rarest of possible events - a SUNNY day in Mush - I mean Michigan. That alone makes it either the shot of a lifetime, or a PhotoShop....hm...... :D
"God is my co-pilot" - there is really no other way to explain it.
Designated drivers ... reminds me of that episode of George Lopez where George has Benny and all of her rowdy drunken friends in his van at the drive-thru.
We sure had our Guardian Angels working overtime - during our after-hours escapades! Good thing we all learned from our "experiences". and yes, MKap, one glass of vino and I'm yawning! The party animal has long since left the zoo!
Love the new picture of St. Jude - need to take more and post them - maybe after we do some Spring clean-up and planting. DOn't know yet if we're going to do our "big" clean-up, since after the last couple of years, the grounds look really nice - but we'll probably at least do a Memorial Day planting. More photo ops!
