A capitol suggestion. That should give the OP a true flavor for living in a Detroit neighborhood. Trying to figure out what someone actually likes over the internet, is like answering "I like to laugh" ads on the singles sites.

I second this suggestion. Lifelong Detroiter weighing in. It's a beautiful area. I think what sets it apart for me is that Hubbard Farms is truly a community. They have an active listserv and most people I've encountered truly want to get to know their neighbors.
just a small note to agree with the first few posts on this subject. when i lived in warren [[right near i-75) and had to drive to dearborn for work, it was a 40 minute drive because i was already in the suburbs dealing with all the traffic. 14 years ago i moved to eastern market and now own in Lafayette Park area. my first trip i took to dearborn caused me to think i needed the same 40 minutes. i was 30 minutes early. you will drive the opposite way of all the commuters.
