Thugocracy is the new model for nations and it’s been elevated from a few obscure little countries all the way to the United States of America.
Michael Cohen said yesterday that Trump was not joking when he said he could kill people, and on top of that, that his supporters would stand by him. And he’s already done it. His so-called “zero tolerance” policy has already killed two little children and the Jerry Falwells of the world still support him.
Cohen said that Trump would “not leave peacefully” if he lost in 2020, suggesting that Trump would call out his armed supporters to start a second US civil war. Thugs all over the world have been doing this for a long time and now the President of the United States has spent 2 years praising them, sucking up to them, and telling them - strongmen like Bashir, Kim, Duterte, Putin, and Bolsinaro - that they should continue with their terror campaigns against their own people and their destruction of a free press and anything left of democracy in their regions.
Of all the reasons to impeach this mob boss in the White House, this is the strongest. The United States must step back from the edge of becoming a Thugocracy and that begins with nullifying the corrupted election of 2016.

Could deadly flu virus studies escape lab and infect millions without healthcare?
Scientists are resuming once-banned research into the deadly flu virus of 1918, which killed millions, in the hopes of stopping a future similar flu pandemic.
The public was not informed. United States is uniquely vulnerable because we have no national health care program.
Canada and Mexico and all of Europe and parts of South and Central America do, but we don’t. So no matter what kind of vaccine or treatment we come up with to stop the spread of the next version of the deadly flu of 1918, we’re going to have a problem because so many people can’t afford to go to the doctor - or don’t even have a doctor - and will instead walk around contagious, spreading the illness.
Our lack of sick leave compounds it. People who are sick will still go to work in our restaurants and taxis and sneeze on us and our food, increasing the velocity of the spread of the next big disease, whether it be flu or SARS or some new virus that North Korea or another foe could drop into our country.

What does it mean to be liberal?
Are you proud of these values?
John Kennedy was proud of being a liberal, are you?
Or has this changed in the years since Republicans began their assault on the word "liberal"?
IMO, as an independent, it's the far left that's gotten out of hand in areas; not so much traditional liberalism.
It is up to liberals to apprehend the changes and demands placed upon their politic and demand push-back appropriate to their cause and values.
Here's a interesting article on the distinctions between liberalism and the far left:
https://www.dailysignal.com/2017/09/...m-differences/
From article:
.....Capitalism: Liberals have always been pro-capitalism, recognizing it for what it is: the only economic means of lifting great numbers out of poverty.
Liberals did often view government as able to play a bigger role in lifting people out of poverty than conservatives, but they were never opposed to capitalism, and they were never for socialism. Opposition to capitalism and advocacy of socialism are leftist values.
Nationalism: Liberals deeply believed in the nation-state, whether their nation was the United States, Great Britain, or France.
The left has always opposed nationalism because leftism is rooted in class solidarity, not national solidarity. The left has contempt for nationalism, seeing in it intellectual and moral primitivism at best, and the road to fascism at worst.
Liberals always wanted to protect American sovereignty and borders. The notion of open borders would have struck a liberal as just as objectionable as it does a conservative.....
Zacha341, "as an independent," you might prefer reading something other than The Daily Signal.
The Daily Signal is published by conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation.
Hah. Yeah and some of my more conservative friends say I should ditch NPR and DailyKos. But I refuse such adherence...:p... I read, watch and pull articles, info from many sources. I only cited that article from there as I felt referencing it from Dennis Prager directly would really cast aspersions [[ala pulling links from right wingers - smile).
I'm not a reader of Daily Signal -- was seeking that Prager article and that link came up top of google. On the other hand, I make no apologies to learn and seek info outside the agreement-only cast of a said point of view. I venture into the enemy camp often as it were.
Now, having said that and setting aside that dreaded 'DS' link, whad'yah think about the article: subject covered, specific to the differences, far left vs. liberals etc? There's a difference, increasingly noted among liberals themselves -- difference I noticed before reading any particular article.

Steve King shared a meme that put Red States, controlled by Republicans and Blue states, controlled by the Democratic party at war with each other.

The latest attempt at this coup comes as crippling sanctions are starving the Venezuelan population of food. And even denying the people of Venezuela access to their own money and resources.
Medea Benjamin, the co-founder of Code Pink, activists and author, joins Thom Hartmann live from inside Venezuela's embassy, explaining why Code Pink and other activists mobilized to keep out far-right extremists backed by the self-proclaimed President of Venezuela Juan Guaido.
