Historic Indian Village set to see its first new house in 20-plus years

This fall, construction is expected to get underway on the first new house to be built in the historic Detroit neighborhood of Indian Village in nearly a quarter of a century.

Based on the rendering in the Crains article, the house would appear to fit nicely in the neighborhood.

I really like the way that design fits in. Respectful to it's historical surroundings. There are some really sad 70's-90's boringness in that area--mostly closer to Mack.

Very nice design... but it looks diminutive on such a large lot... :confused:

Maybe that's just the impression from the schematic?

Gistok, adding that side garage and driveway will take up a good portion of the land.

Does anyone here know where in Indian Village this house is to be built?

Usually IV houses take up more space because of the homes mass. This plan appears to have the "density" of a exurban subdivision. It looks like they're taking a double lot and putting a smaller house in the middle of it. But then again... we really can't judge until it is built.

Are there copyright issues with posting full articles on this site?

Anybody have pics of the old Mendelsohn mansion there? Remember it was the 2nd home to WXYZ for years. Another piece of history bites the dust!
