MDOT open house September 5 on Gratiot Ave improvements

I went. MDOT talked about narrowing the lines between the lanes to slow down traffic. Since that meeting it currently appears that they have done this. The parking lane now has a solid white line to indicate a parking lane, and new white lines have been painted, narrowing the traffic lanes. MDOT also took down suggestions on how to improve Gratiot and would do a follow up in a few months.

Now, I'm wondering if the work that they have done on Gratiot will really slow down traffic. It's such a busy street. However, speed on Jefferson was greatly reduced when then they added bikes lanes on both sides of Jefferson, limiting traffic to just two lanes in each direction. However, I'm not sure if narrowing Gratiot to two lanes in each direction is a good idea because there is so much traffic volume during rush hour, but it would definitely slow down speeding.
