Here we go. I like the Gustufson pick up for goal. Can't rely on McDonalds bad back. Samuelson might work might not. Can't see the Tootoo deal. And now we have to hear the stupid Tootoo horns on top of all the bs canned muzak. I want Nash.
Tigers are apparently close to signing Tori Hunter. This is exactly the kind of player we need. Not only is Hunter a solid hitter, defender and clubhouse leader, he's the kind of exciting athletic player the team is sorely lacking. Aside from Jackson, the Tigers are a bunch of plodders. Last season I complained Fielder was another slugger that would clog up the bases. As the season wore on I grew to appreciate his hitting talent, but I still feel that money could have been better spent elsewhere. Hunter is going to command 18 million plus per year for 2 years. That's now 4 guys earning a total of 80 million. More when Scherzer gets his. You would hope this would be enough to get us back to the Series but the closer situation is still up in the air and may not be solved until well into the season.
I live out West now and don't follow the Wings as closely when I lived in Corktown and elsewhere in Detroit for decades. Last week I went over the team roster and there were seven or eight players that I did not know or had little knowledge of.
Speaking with old acquaintances in Michigan, some seemed to blame Jimmy Howard for the Wings' early out, but I disagreed. The games with Nashville with close and low scoring.
A low scoring power player, one that was ranked low in the league, was apparent in the Nashville games, seemed to be a weakness for the Wings.
What were some of the common criticism of the Wings during the season and in the playoff games?
In the off season, we mercifully we didn't sign Jaromir Jagr in the off season. We didn't go out and make huge free agent splashes and sign the capable likes of White & Commodore. We say good bye to Paul MacLean and Brad McCrimmon behind the bench. And we also say goodbye to the long standing guys like Chris Osgood and Kris Draper (last of the Grind Line) as they head off to the golf course; their Cup contributions won't be soon forgotten. We also welcome back Ty Conklin into the fold again. And we still have the best defenseman I've ever seen lacing them up in Nick Lidstrom for another year.
Feel free to discuss as the season progresses and maybe in mid-June we'll still be playing some significant games.
I don't know why these idiots fired Murph especially when his contract was up at the end of this season , blaming the firing on low ratings . They keep guys like MickeyYork and former Detroit Vipers goalie Darren Eliot ( who's stiffer than a corspe) and let a knowedgeable guy like Murphy go . Low ratings because many fans are still pissed about yet another lockout ?

I don't put much into online petitions , but I do this one because Murphy does commentary for the NHL Network and FSD says the low ratings are his fault ? lol
I started a thread this early a.m. at FSD Facebook , and the comments are now in the hundreds .
