center and art bohemia, just south of the corner of Cass and

IRL?
The driving force
behind the DetroitYES.com Web Artwork has been the effort to move from
virtual community to real community through IRL [in real life]
events such as the February 2001 "Fabulous
Ruins Night", the May 2003 SoulfulDetroit
Night, and spontaneous forum generated gatherings like
the FSC [Forum Social Club] and the SD45CC meet ups.
Detroit IRL
is web art portion of the
DETROIT360 painting
and web art exhibition by Lowell Boileau [details at the right].
The painting exhibition opened 22 Jan 2005 and features fine
art paintings and photographs. The exhibition continues until
April 9, 2005.
About
DetroitYES & SoulfulDetroit
DetroitYES.com
and SoulfulDetroit.com are attempts to use the web as an art
medium to paint a multidimensional portrait of the International
Metropolis of Detroit through images of the city and, particularly,
through the voices of those who care about Detroit as expressed
through the websites' forums.
The idea is
to create an audience authored artwork, one where the artist
poses the question and then becomes just another of the
participants in pursuit of answers, answers which enrich the
portrait with color and detail.
